A lot of new this time regarding anime, manga and even live action adaptations. I'm posting this earlier than usual, so the Oricon sales figures will be added later and because there is so much news the format of the post is going to be different from how it usually is.

Let's start!

Manga and Live Action News

  • Judge by Yoshiki Tonogai will end in the August issue of Shonen Gangan.
  • Getsuin no Onmyouji by Masaru Gotsubo will start its run in Shonen Gangan's September issue.
  • Aku no Hana is going to announce an important project in the August issue of Bessatsu Shonen Magazine.
  • Akira Fukaya will be debuting a new series in Bessatsu Shonen Champion's September issue; it is called Spice Boy!
  • Naruto is going to have a 33 page "extra" chapter in Issue #34 of Weekly Shonen Jump as an introduction to the Road to Ninja Move coming out this summer.
  • Nana to Kaoru's second live action film is due this September.
  • Cyborg 009 is in the process of being developed for a Hollywood live-action adaptation. F.J. DeSanto is going to be a producer and Ishimori Productions (the company owned by the creator of the series Shotaro Ishinomori) will be involved. Read more at ANN.

Anime Adaptations

Hakkenden, the shoujo manga currently running in Kadokawa Shoten's Ciel Tres Tres magazine, is getting animated by Studio Deen to air some time in 2013. Mitsue Yamazaki will be making his full directing debut with this project.

Sailor Moon will be getting a new anime which will start airing in the Summer 2013 season. The idol group Momoiro Clover Z announced this at a special event celebrating the manga's 20th anniversary. It was immediately confirmed that it's not a film but indeed an anime.

Ore no Kanojo to Osananajimi ga Shuraba Sugiru (OreShura), the light novel with 2 manga adaptations, is getting an anime. A-1 Pictures and Aniplex are collaborating on this adaptation.

The Chunibyo demo Koi ga Shitai! novel by Torako is being adapted into an anime as Kyoto Animation's (KyoAni) next project. The anime is set to air in the Fall 2012 season and is being directed by Tatsuya Ishihara (Clannad (sequel included), Nichijou)

D.C.III ~Da Capo III~ the third visual novel in the Da Capo series is to be animated for January 2013 (Winter 2013 season). This will be the third Da Capo visual novel to be animated and the 5th anime adaptation for the franchise; Da Capo spawned two seasons, both lasting 26 episodes (animated by Zexcs and Feel respectively) and Da Capo II had two 13 episode seasons (animated by feel).

GJ-bu Chutobu and Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Come wa Machigatteriu light novels had their anime adaptations announced in Shogagukan's Gagaga Bunko imprint.

Fate/kaleid liner PRISMA ILLYA, a spin-off of the Fate/stay night series and magical girl manga has been confirmed for an anime airing in 2013. Silver Link is the studio in charge.

A countdown website was set up by Shonen Jump (http://www.shonenjump.com/j/countdown/) in anticipation of the new Dragon Ball movie coming out in March 2013. The website will go live in a few days and might reveal more information regarding the movie. Akira Toriyama, the creator of the manga, is going to be involved in the creation of the plot for this movie.
