Part I of Shingeki no Kyojin is now over. Time to get excited for Part II, am I right?
Without trying to sound negative, I'd like to convey my joy for Part I wrapping up just as I finish my real life priorities. Not only is this an advancement in the plot that'll bring in the rather colourful members of the Scouting Legion but its one that'll bring a different style of action we have yet to see.
These two episodes introduced some time stalling recaps, which fans of long-running shonen anime will tell you is not all that uncommon. A little uncommon when it comes to shorter adaptations but given Shingeki no Kyojin's lack of source material and monthly release schedule, not unwarranted. For those not familiar with the manga, you'll have to take my word for it when I say that the production team is aiming for a decent ending point that allows for a smooth transition into the manga or possibly a second season in a few years time.

Despite having less time to progress the plot, the story stayed on point and didn't feel any shorter. The big focus of the episodes was to bring closure to the first battle the cadets faced whilst posing another philosophical question, appropriate for any war; value of life depending on individuals. A debate that was conveyed especially well when using the supporting cast in conjunction with the main trio, resulting in some interesting outcomes.
With questions still left unanswered about Eren's father and an impending obstacle - remember he's in jail - we look to the next part of the story. A part of the story that brings back the ever-so popular Levi (Kamiya Hiroshi in an alpha role!) and a few other characters. Unfortunately we'll have to wait a little longer as Shingeki no Kyojin will be having a recap episode next.
