Looks like the case study portion of Shingeki no Kyojin has started with this episode.
What I loved most about the episode was how it managed to capture the epic war story feeling, which was the staple of this episode and, in part, the previous episode. The background music really showed off in the episode, with the each section of the episode having great music as accompaniment.
Of course this wouldn't be the Shingeki no Kyojin I know and love without some thought-provoking debate; this time it's the "soldier conundrum." Why do the best 10 all go to the military police? What happens when your best soldiers are those who run away from a fight? Can you really blame these kids for running away from guaranteed slaughter?
Eren was at the centre of all this as expected. He's more of an aspiring avenger at this point and not a real main character at this point in time. Ideology still overpowers his character traits, making him a little unlikeable - the same way you dislike those who preach at you. Well, whether you like him or not, his time has come and that can only mean we're going to get some pretty exhilarating action sequences.
There's still some awkward comedy in Shingeki no Kyojin, which I can't seem to figure out. A part of me is trying to remember if there was an attempt at this in the manga, or if it's something the staff have decided to include. The other part of me is trying to figure out if it's a bother. Sasha remains the main perpetrator, both directly and indirectly and that's fine since she was made into a comic relief character in the previous episode.
Anyhow, another good episode. We're now ready for the action, and I must say the next episode cannot get here fast enough.
