Other Manga/Anime News - #7 (2012)
A lot of manga news (mostly about mangaka) and an another oricon analysis, unfortunately no anime news. Above are some more tankobon volume covers from different magazines.
Big news in terms of manga:
1. Claymore has ended it's run in Jump SQ and won't be appearing in the June issue, leaving many questions unanswered and some very angry fans along with it. We can always hope that the manga is simply being transferred to a different magazine (possibly Jump X) but for the time being there is no epilogue planned.
2. Hideo Nishimoto, author of Mou, Shimasen Kara. currently running in Shonen Magazine is bringing out a new piece entitled Ch to Morimashita debuting June 13th, in Issue #28 of Magazine. Whether this means Mou, Shimasen will end it's run is yet to be known.
UPDATE: Mou, Shimasen Kara ended it's run in Issue #23 of Shonen Magazine
3. Eko Yamatoya will be have a new manga series in Shonen Sunday, starting on May 16th in Issue #24 called Nadeshiko no Kiseki - Kawasumi Nahomi Monogatari ( roughly translated "The Miracle of Nadeshiko - The story of Kawasumi Nahomi). The story is presumably about football and the Japanese women's team and will Yamatoya-sensei's 3rd manga (the previous two lasted only 1 and 6 volumes respectively).
4. Yusuke Murata, illustrator of Eyeshield 21, has decided to become an author for Akita Shoten's new monthly publication Bessatsu Shonen Champion after having tested out various one-shots in Jump SQ. Joining Murata-sensei will be Baku Yumemakura, Hideyuki Yonehara, Takuma Morishige, Etsuko Mizusawa and Rensuke Oshikiri all of whom will be debuting new works.

A few things that stood out:
- Giant Killing opened strong like usual topping the chart.
- Hunter x Hunter has stayed in the top 30 for the fourth consecutive week now and has sold almost 896,000 copies trumping all other Jump manga that were released on the same day and displaying sales figures easily rivaling Naruto.
- Volume 3 of Gin no Saji is just 630 volumes shy of matching the sales figures of Volume 32 of Fairy Tail and Volumes 1 and 2 continue to sell well; both having surpassed 500,000 and now closing in on 600,000 sales.
- Shingeki no Kyojin volume 7 has sold over 500,000 copies.
- Jojolion holds steady in it's second week, closing in on the 300,000 copies mark.
