All final boss battles should be like this one!
I bet mainstream shonen fans would find this episode interesting. Being one of those mainstream fans myself, I always thought the best series were those that did an effective job of producing exciting fight after exciting fight. Excuse my boorish way of thinking. Until a few years ago I didn't know of anime and manga outside the Big 3 and if I saw this anime back then, I would have loved it even more.
The final fight against Dio was anything but exciting. It was riddled with commentary, plenty of one-up's between JoJo and Dio and not to mention cheesy dialogue. So many wrongs yet so right when combined together; the power of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.
We know the series doesn't take itself seriously and that's exactly why this episode was another great watch. Frankly, I've grown tired of all those serious battle anime, so JoJo's Bizarre Adventure always gets my vote for most enjoyable. Anvils being thrown out of nowhere The talk of honour in a name A head injuring Dio You just don't get nuttier than this.
There were a few less impressive moments. If I had to nitpick, it would be that Dire, Straits and Tompetti didn't do anything. Dire's death aside, their biggest contribution was a few lines and action moves and even the death was just so sacrificial. Yes it did help JoJo with his fight against Dio, but it didn't have to be that ridiculous. Of course theses complaints aren't a big deal for me seeing as how I read the manga and knew what to expect.
If you watched the preview, you know this part of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure isn't done yet. Next episode should be Part I's finale and then the remaining 17 episodes should be dedicated to Part II's adaptation. Perfect pacing if you ask me.
