The usual bits, Oricon best seller and news of a new anime project (pictures above) just to mix things up. Let's start with the bits:

  • Inumaru Dashi, a gag manga running in Weekly Shonen Jump ended this Monday in issue #27 having lasted 180 chapters spanning close to 4 years.
  • Shirokuma Caf (Polar Bear Caf ), a josei gag manga running in Flowers, has been put on hiatus by the author because the editors did not discuss anything regarding the anime (which started airing this spring) with the author.
  • Busou Shinki Moon Angel, the web series comprised of 10 five minute episodes, has been picked up for a TV anime starting this Fall.
  • The domain name project-magi.com has been registered, for the manga Magi which is currently running in Weekly Shonen Sunday. Magi is announcing a huge project soon.
  • The anime project K, will be getting a manga adaptation in Kodansha's ARIA magazine.
  • Chosoku Henkei Gyro Zetter, a manga running in Saikyo Jump, is getting an anime adaptation starting this October.
  • Shonen Jump Alpha, an online Shonen Publication owned by Viz which is an equivalent to an electronic version of Weekly Shonen Jump in North America, has added Kohei Horikoshi-sensei's Sensei no Bulge (Barrage) to their line-up.
  • The K-ON! manga looks like it's going to end before August this year.
  • Josh Brolin has revealed he has no intentions of toning down the violence in the western adaptation of Old Boy - a seinen manga which was later adapted into a Korean movie.

Anime Project News - Vividred (Vivid Red )

Just to clear up any misunderstandings, I don't know how the title of the anime will be spelt so hence the brackets with alternative spelling and question mark. Here are some quick facts about this anime project: This is a Dengeki G Magazine and Aniplex collaboration.

Studio; A-1 Pictures

Source Material; None, Original Work

Director/Character Design; Kazuhiro Takamura (of Strike Witches fame)

Series Composition/Script: Hiroyuki Yoshino (of Macross Frontier and Guilty Crown fame)

Plot:

  • A 14 year old girl is the heroine.
  • There are 5 main heroines.
  • It's a girl sci-fi genre with mecha.

This project looks like it's going to be a beast! Great staff, A-1 in charge of production and of course a Dengeki G and Aniplex co-operation. I'm guessing Strike Witches fans are excited but even someone like me who doesn't like mecha is inclined to check this anime out as soon as it's released.
