Fairy Tail – Anime Movie Announced!

The Facts:
So the time has finally come for Fairy Tail to be getting an anime film!
Though it may not seem like it, it has been just over 5 years since Fairy Tail had started being published and 2 years since the anime started so it would seem that it’s just about the right time for the anime to be released.
It’s scheduled to be released in the summer of 2012, so for all of us non-Japanese speaking folk, we’ll have to wait even longer to find a subbed version somewhere on the net.
Unfortunately there isn’t much else to say about it other than even Hiro Mashima wouldn’t reveal anything regarding the film in his interview with ANN.
Thoughts:
I hate most anime films since the stories can never live up to the manga storyline (as they are not written by the manga artist) but as a Fairy Tail fan, I will watch it and possibly, no, hopefully be surprised by the outcome. I do hope it’s nothing like the Naruto films though as that would be such a huge disappointment!

Not much was discussed in detail during the interview but it’s always nice when a Japanese mangaka takes time to visit the US and give his/her English speaking fans some attention.
You also have to admire how even Hiro Mashima is left in awe with the Fairy Tail anime. Something I would not have expected to hear from a professional manga artist but that only reminds us how much of an effect an anime can have on our whole manga experience and in this interview’s case I felt even more impressed by Mashima’s humility and willingness to admit that the anime is fun to watch because he is unable to really bring that much vivid detail to the action scenes.
The interview also explores how Mashima’s brain works and his personal values but frustratingly enough there is no new info on the upcoming Fairy Tail movie!

Bleach Live Action Adaptation: Can It Be Done Well?

So I recently stumbled upon some news that Warner Bros. have been planning to turn Bleach into a live action film since March 2010 and I couldn’t help but consider whether it would be good or very bad. It took some time to consider all of the aspects of this but I did come to a conclusion (well not really) of whether the film would sink or swim. (more…)
