The final Weekly Shonen Sunday anime project for the year has been announced. Much to my disappointment, it’s not Denpa Kyoushi. It’s Joujuu Senjin!! Mushibugyo.
[Source]
The manga is an alternative spin-off of the original Mushibugyo that ran from 2009 to 2010. Production I.G made an anime commercial for the manga last year, though they are not attached to the series.
This is the one series I haven’t heard about. It also took me by surprise since the series doesn’t rank highly on Weekly Shonen Sunday’s line-up. Not to mention, there’s been zero talk about this manga on any blog, site or forums I frequently visit.
With that, here’s the list of the 8 Weekly Shonen Sunday anime projects for 2013:
- Detective Conan – Movie #17
- Zettai Karen Children THE UNLIMITED
- Sasami-san@Ganbaranai
- Arata Kangatari
- The World God Only Knows – Season 3
- Hayate no Gotoku – New Season
- Gin no Saji ~Silver Spoon~
- Joujuu Senjin!! Mushibugyo
Other Weekly Shonen Sunday News
Really just more Silver Spoon news. Silver Spoon‘s anime will run in the noitaminA block and the manga has 6.5 million copies in circulation.
With Katanagatari re-airing this upcoming Spring, we can expect the anime in the Summer or Fall.

I was disappointed by that choice. I can see what they are trying to combine to create this new series and it actually looks back quite a bit to the old Woodblock style of art, to the very roots of anime, but i am not wild about the story or the style for a series. Must have been an odd editors meeting to pick that one.

I too find the choice odd. I guess the editors chose it because it wasn't one of the regular studios i.e. Manglobe.

I wouldn't say "soon" but it is on its way. Wouldn't be surprised if it ended some time this year.

I think they should have changed the order for when they announced which title was becoming an anime. They should have announced Silver Spoon or the World God Only Knows in the final issue, which would have left the best for last.

Couldn't agree more. When Silver Spoon was announced I was so happy after waiting so long. It's a pity some no-name (by comparison) series was saved for last.
